New Years Eve

Part of a package of event ideas put forward by Chameleon to Wellington City Council was a new concept to fill the void of New Years Eve not really celebrated in the Capital. Wellington is the first Capital in the World to see in the New Year so why shouldn’t the city celebrate. The idea was born for a Movie Music night, 52 piece Orchestra Wellington playing classic movie sound tracks while a montage of clips from the corresponding movie played on the big screen. Add in some entertainment, fire and performance in the unique lagoon location.

Chameleon lit up the city with tower blocks in the cityscape illuminated with colour & pattern, while all around the lagoon lights shone and twinkled on the surface of the water. It created a very special environment for an amazing night. The standing ovation was a sign we had pleased the crowd and TV1 News said Wellington brought in the New Year in style. This is now a regular event in the cities calendar.
